TrinaRat – The original. When I was little, I use to have my hair in two little pig tails on the top of my head. The little single curl on each side of my head made me look like I had mouse or rat ears.
TrinaBrat – I first remember my cousin Valerie using this nickname. She is a few years older and her mom used to watch me after preschool. It was attached to Valerie’s school. We used to play all the time and I never remember it being used in a negative sense. It was more a loving tease since that’s pretty much how our relationship was. Well, it probably still is if we had a chance to spend time together. I was in her wedding years ago and since then children and life have happened and we haven’t much kept in touch.
TrinaKat – The self-initiated favorite. Started to use around 11 or 12. Get it? Trina and then Kat with a K for Katrina and then the whole tacking it onto the end because of the original TrinaRat. Certain friends over the years have latched on to this one and called me it and it was incorporated into my IM and pretty much all social media accounts. I like it. I like you.
TrinaFat – Sometimes when I’m being hard on myself, this one creeps in. Sometimes, you need that fourth slice of pizza. Or the bacon on your cheeseburger. I’ve actually become much better about my own view of my appearance. Low self-esteem still creeps in, but it’s not really about being fat. Losing significant weight and keeping it off for the most part does that for you, I guess. Now I just have low self-esteem about not being worthwhile in general. Well, I guess more specifically to the people I want to find me worthwhile. But hey, I’m pretty, right? Right.
TrinaGnat – The latest. Because I feel like I can be a pesky Gnat. I get attracted to something and then I just hover incessantly. Probably will until some other tasty piece of fruit gets in my way. Yum.
